Getting Started

Starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions. Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common ones. If you’re unsure where to begin, a free consultation is a great first step.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. I offer secure, confidential online therapy (telehealth) for clients. Relationship coaching is also available virtually for clients outside of Illinois and worldwide.

What’s the difference between therapy and coaching?

Therapy focuses on mental health, emotional healing, and clinical treatment. Coaching is more action-oriented and future-focused, supporting personal growth, communication skills, and relationship patterns without diagnosing or treating mental health conditions.

During a consultation, we’ll talk through which option best fits your goals.

Who do you typically work with?

I work primarily with adults and couples navigating relationship challenges, life transitions, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, identity shifts, and periods of feeling stuck. Many clients come to therapy after trying to manage things on their own and realizing they want deeper support.

Do you work with couples dealing with infidelity or relationship rupture?

Yes. I specialize in supporting couples impacted by betrayal, broken trust, and significant relationship stress. This work focuses on rebuilding emotional safety, increasing clarity, and helping each partner understand what healing looks like - together or individually.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, I do accept insurance. Coverage varies by plan, and I am happy to help you understand your benefits. It is important to note that couples counseling is often not covered by insurance, as many plans do not reimburse for relationship based therapy. Many couples choose to self pay for this reason. We can tap through your options during a consultation so there are no surprises.

How do I get started?

The first step is scheduling a free consultation. This gives us a chance to talk about what you’re looking for, answer questions, and see if working together feels like the right fit before beginning therapy.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Therapy is confidential and protected by law, with a few standard exceptions related to safety. I’ll review confidentiality in detail and answer any questions during our first session.
